Grain

Holman Bible Dictionary

A general term for the edible seed of cultivated grasses. Common grains in the biblical world included wheat (Genesis 30:14 ), spelt or emmer (REB vetches) (Exodus 9:32 ), barley (Exodus 9:31 ), and millet (Ezekiel 4:9 ). The KJV normally renders grain as corn which means not maize (as in American usage) but any grain.
