Holman Bible Dictionary

(gree' shuhn) Proper adjective referring to things or to people with origins in Greece. In the New Testament this refers to Jews who had adopted the Greek culture and language. They formed a significant part of the early church and created problems because of prejudice within the church (Acts 6:1; Acts 9:29 ).
