Holman Bible Dictionary

(hay' tach) Personal name perhaps of Persian origin meaning, “runner.” A eunuch serving King Ahasuerus in the Persian court whom the king assigned as Esther's servant (Esther 4:5-6 ). Esther assigned him to find why Mordecai was troubled, thus initiating Esther's appearances before the king to save her people.
