Jeshanah
Holman Bible Dictionary
(jih sshay' nuh) Place name meaning, “old city.” City that King Abijah of Judah captured from Jeroboam of Israel about 910 B.C. (2 Chronicles 13:19 ). It was located at modern Burj el-Isane four miles south of Shiloh and eight miles northeast of Mizpah. Some interpreters follow early translations and read Jeshanah in 1 Samuel 7:12 .
