(jee' thuhr) Personal name meaning, “remnant.” 1. Son of the judge Gideon who refused his father's command to kill enemy military leaders (Judges 8:20 ). 2 . Father of Amasa, army leader under Judah (1Kings 4:5,1 Kings 4:32 ), and descended from Ishmael (1 Chronicles 2:17; compare 2 Samuel 17:25 ). See 1 Chronicles 2:32 ). 4 . Member of tribe of Judah (1 Chronicles 4:17 ). 5 . Member of tribe of Asher (1 Chronicles 8:38 , called Ithran in 1 Chronicles 7:37 ). See Ithran .
