Holman Bible Dictionary
[Jim na(h)] Proper name meaning, “he allotted.” 1. Son of Asher, grandson of Jacob, and original ancestor of clan in tribe of Asher (Genesis 46:17; Numbers 26:44 ). KJV spells the name Imnah in 1 Chronicles 7:30 , as do modern translations in all occurrences. 2. A Levite under Hezekiah (2 Chronicles 31:14 , spelled Imnah by English translations).
