Holman Bible Dictionary
(loh' ihss) A personal name perhaps meaning “more desirable” or “better.” The mother of Eunice and grandmother of Timothy (2 Timothy 1:5 ). Paul exalted Lois as a model of Christian faith and saw her as instrumental in nurturing her grandson in the faith. Her influence on Timothy cannot be overestimated.
