Meroz
Holman Bible Dictionary
(mee' rahz) Place name of uncertain meaning. Town condemned in the Song of Deborah for failure to join in the Lord's battle against the oppressive forces of Sisera (Judges 5:23 ). The site is unknown. Suggestions have included: khirbet Marus three miles northwest of Hazor; Madon (Joshua 12:19 ); and (Shimron-) Merom (Joshua 11:5; Joshua 12:20 ), identified with Semuniyeh north of Megiddo on the edge of the Jezreel Valley. Marus is too far removed from the battle site to have been expected to participate. Madon is closer, but still separated from the Jezreel by mountain terrain.
