Mixed Multitude
Holman Bible Dictionary
Term for foreigners who associate themselves with a dominant ethnic group. The term is used for those foreigners who joined with the Israelites in the Exodus from Egypt (Exodus 12:38 ), who became associated with the people of Judah during the Exile (Nehemiah 13:3 ), or who were associated with the Egyptians (Jeremiah 25:20 ) or Babylonians (Jeremiah 50:37 ).
