Holman Bible Dictionary
A small, long-tailed primate. TEV, REB include monkeys among the exotic animals brought as gifts to King Solomon (1 Kings 10:22; 2 Chronicles 9:21 ). NIV, NRSV note read, “baboons.” KJV, NAS, NRSV render the Hebrew term peacocks.
