Holman Bible Dictionary
(noh' buh) Personal name meaning, “barking” or “howling.” 1. Leader of the tribe of Manasseh who conquered Kenath in Gilead (Numbers 32:42 ). 2 . Town in Gilead, formerly Kenath (Numbers 32:42 ). Site is perhaps identical with Kanawat about 60 miles east of the Sea of Galilee. 3. A town in Gilead (Judges 8:10-11 ) to the east of Succoth and Penuel and west of the king's highway (KJV, “The way of them that dwell in tents”; NRSV, “caravan route”).
