Holman Bible Dictionary
Relating to the Passover. Paul used the sacrifice of the pascal lamb as a picture of the death of Christ (1 Corinthians 5:7 NRSV). By dating the crucifixion on the day of preparation for the Passover, John suggested the same image of Christ as the paschal lamb who takes away the sin of the world ( John 19:14; compare John 1:29 ).
