Perishable
Holman Bible Dictionary
Term some translations (KJV, REB, NRSV) use to describe the present, mortal body (1Corinthians 15:42,1Corinthians 15:50,1 Corinthians 15:53-54 ), which is subject to death and decay. Other translations render the underlying Greek as corruptible (NAS, NIV) or mortal (TEV). Paul contrasted the perishable reward champion athletes receive with the lasting reward for which Christians compete (1 Corinthians 9:25 ). 1 Peter 1:7 compares the testing of lasting faith with that of perishable gold.
