Pleiades

Holman Bible Dictionary

(play' uh deez) A brilliant grouping of six or seven visible stars located in the shoulder of the constellation Taurus (Job 9:9; Job 38:31; Amos 5:8 ). The derivation of the name has been traced to the seven daughters of Atlas and Pleione in Greek mythology, the adjective pleos , suggesting the “fullness” of the cluster, or to the verb pleo (to sail) from the cluster's usefulness in navigation.
