(ssheh leh mi' uh) Personal name appearing in longer and shorter Hebrew forms meaning, “Yahweh restored, replaced, repaid.” 1. Father of a messenger of King Zedekiah about 590 B.C. (Jeremiah 37:3 ). 2 . Father of the captain of the guard who arrested Jeremiah (Jeremiah 37:13 ). 3 . Ancestor of an official of King Jehoiakim (Jeremiah 36:14 ). 4 . Court official whom King Jehoiakim (609-597 B.C.) ordered to arrest Jeremiah and from whom God hid Jeremiah (Jeremiah 36:26 ). 5 . Temple gatekeeper (1 Chronicles 26:14 ) and apparently called Meshelemiah in 1Chronicles 26:1,1 Chronicles 26:9 . 6 . and 7. Two Jews who married foreign women (Ezra 10:39 ,Ezra 10:39,10:41 ). 8 . Father of man who helped Nehemiah rebuild Jerusalem's wall (Nehemiah 3:30 ). 9 . Priest whom Nehemiah made treasurer (Nehemiah 13:13 ).
