Holman Bible Dictionary
(sshee' sshach) Code word Jeremiah used to indicate Babylon (Jeremiah 25:26; Jeremiah 51:41 ). The code uses the first word of the alphabet for the last, the second for the next to last, and so on. In English a would stand for z , b for y , and so on.
