Shroud
Holman Bible Dictionary
A linen burial cloth. Shrouds usually were very long pieces of cloth which were wound around the body. As the winding was done, spices were placed within the folds of the shroud. After His crucifixion, Jesus' body was so buried by Joseph of Arimathea and the women disciples (Matthew 27:59-61 ). In one recorded instance, a shroud was worn as a garment (Mark 14:51-52 ).
