Sibmah
Holman Bible Dictionary
(ssihb' muh) Place name meaning, “cold” or “high.” City tribe of Reuben rebuilt in Transjordan (Numbers 32:38 ). It became part of their tribal inheritance (Joshua 13:19 ). Isaiah mentioned it in his lament over Moab (Joshua 16:8-9; compare Jeremiah 48:32 ). Sebam (Numbers 32:3 ) is often seen as a copyist's change from Sibmah. It may be located at khirbet al-qibsh about three miles east northeast of Mount Nebo and three miles southwest of Hesban.
