Holman Bible Dictionary
(zuhr) Place name meaning, “narrow” or “enemy.” Fortified town in the territory of Naphtali (Joshua 19:35 ), possibly identified with Madon which is conspicuously absent from this list. Commentators often take Zer as a copyist's modification, repeating the Hebrew for “fenced cities.” See Ziddin.
