Holman Bible Dictionary
(zi awr) Place name meaning, “smallness.” Village allotted to Judah, located in the hill country near Hebron (Joshua 15:54 ). Archaeological research indicates that the frequently suggested site Si'ir about five miles north northeast of Hebron was uninhabited before A.D. 400.
