Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible
PURGE . To ‘purge’ in AV [Note: Authorized Version.] is simply to ‘cleanse or purify,’ as Psalms 51:7 ‘Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean’; Mark 7:19 ‘purging all meats,’ i.e. making all food ceremonially clean.
