Reigned from May 13, 535 to April 22, 536. Born in Italy; died in Constantinople. He confirmed decrees against the Arians, went to Constantinople in state to persuade Emperor Justinian to abandon his Italian projects, and while there deposed the heretical patriarch, Anthimus.
