Louisville, Kentucky, Archdiocese of
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Comprises north central Kentucky. Founded as the diocese of Bardstown, a suffragen of Baltimore, on April 8, 1808. Transferred to the diocese of Louisville on February 13, 1841 and made a suffragan of Cincinnati. Elevated to the archdiocese of Louisville on December 10, 1938. Suffragen dioceses include
- Covington, Kentucky
- Knoxville, Tennessee
- Lexington
- Memphis
- Nashville, Tennessee
