Marcus Aurelius Antoninus

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

Roman Emperor (161-180). During his reign the incursions of the Picts in Britain and the onslaughts of the Germans were followed by the Parthian war of 161-166. It was during this war that he composed his well-known "Meditations," a collection of moral reflections. The only blot on his fame is the persecution of the Christians.
