Red

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

Is the color of warmth and blood. Vestments of that color are used in Masses of the Holy Ghost, to remind us of the tongues of fire which descended upon the Apostles, and of the fire of charity, which is a gift of the Holy Ghost. It is used also on the feasts of the Holy Cross of Our Lord, and on the festivals of all saints who shed their blood for their faith.
