1910 New Catholic Dictionary

A liturgical color. Rose-colored vestments may be used instead of purple on the third Sunday of Advent and on the fourth Sunday of Lent. The liturgy of these Sundays is joyful, to express relief that half of the penitential season is over. Rose color is less penitential than purple.
