Webster's Dictionary

(1):

(a.) Having the eyes covered; blinded; having the mental eye darkened. Hence: Heedless; reckless; as, blindfold zeal; blindfold fury.

(2):

(v. t.) To cover the eyes of, as with a bandage; to hinder from seeing.
