Acerose
1911 Encyclopedia Britannica
(from Lat. acus, needle, or acer, sharp), needleshaped, a term used in botany (since Linnaeus) as descriptive of the leaves, e.g., of pines. From Lat. acus, chaff, comes also the distinct meaning of "mixed with chaff."
