Nathaniel Plimer

1911 Encyclopedia Britannica

NATHANIEL PLIMER (1757 - c. 1822), English miniature painter, was the brother of Andrew Plimer. He worked for a while with Henry Bone the enameller, eventually entering Cosway's studio. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1787 until 1815, when he is lost sight of, although he is said to have lived until 1822. He had four daughters, one of whom married the painter, Andrew Geddes, and left children. He exhibited twenty-six works, and many of his smaller portraits are of extreme beauty.
