Achromatism

1911 Encyclopedia Britannica

(Gr. a-, privative, xpcopa, colour), in optics,, the property of transmitting white light, without decomposing it into the colours of the spectrum; "achromatic lenses" are lenses which possess this property. (See LENS, ABERRATION and PHOTOGRAPHY.)
