It is served by the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific railway, and by an interurban electric line connecting with Elkhorn and Kimballton, and is the trade centre of a fine agricultural country; among its manufactures are machine-shop products, canned corn, flour, umbrellas, drugs and bricks. The municipality owns the waterworks and electric-lighting plant. Atlantic was chartered as a city in 1869.
