Mulatto

1911 Encyclopedia Britannica

(Span. and Port. mulato, diminutive of mulo, Lat. mulus, a mule, used as denoting a hybrid origin), a person one of whose parents is of a white race and the other a negro. In Latin America such half-breeds are sometimes called mestizos.
