"SIR WILLIAM RANN KENNEDY (1846-1915), English judge, was born at Dublin Jan. 14 1846. He was educated at Eton and King's College, Cambridge, where he had a distinguished career. He was called to the bar in 1871, and became a Q.C. in 1885. He joined the northern circuit and settled in Liverpool, where as an expert in shipping and mercantile cases he earned a very high reputation. He unsuccessfully contested Birkenhead in 1885 and 1886, and St. Helens in 1892, in the Liberal interest. In 1892 he was appointed a judge of the Queen's Bench division and was knighted, and in 1907 became a lord of appeal, being made a Privy Councillor in 1909. He died in London Jan. 17 1915.
