Stucco

1911 Encyclopedia Britannica

(Ital. stucco, adapted from O.H.G. stucchi, crust, piece, patch, Ger. Stack, piece, allied to stock), a kind of plaster used for the covering of walls, or for decorative or ornamental features such as cornices, mouldings, &c., or for ceilings. The stucco used as an exterior covering for brick or stone work is coarse; a finer kind is used for decorative purposes. (See PLASTER-WORK.)
