International Standard Bible Encyclopedia

al´ē̇ -meth ( עלּמת , ‛allemeth , "concealment"; the King James Version Alemeth , 1 Chronicles 6:60 ): Name of a town in tribe of Benjamin, near Anathoth, one of the cities given to the sons of Aaron, the same as Almon of Joshua 21:18 . The the King James Version ALEMETH (which see) is based upon the Hebrew reading עלּמת , ‛ālemeth ̌ . Its site is the modern Almit, a village a short distance Northeast of Anathoth.
