Hizkiah
International Standard Bible Encyclopedia
hiz - kı̄´a ( חזקיּה , ḥizḳı̄yāh ; Septuagint Ἐζεκία , Ezekı́a , "strength of Yah"):
(1) A son of Neariah, a descendant of David (1 Chronicles 3:23 , the King James Version "Hezekiah").
(2) An ancestor of the prophet Zephaniah (Zephaniah 1:1 ). In the Revised Version (British and American) this word is here translated "Hezekiah." This name again appears in Nehemiah 10:17 (Hebrew 18) in the form of "Hizkijah" in the King James Version, but as "Hezekiah" in the Revised Version (British and American). See HEZEKIAH .
