Jarah
International Standard Bible Encyclopedia
jā´ra ( יערה , ya‛rāh , "honey-comb" (?)): A descendant of King Saul ( 1 Chronicles 9:42 ); but the Septuagint's Codices Vaticanus and Alexandrinus, have Ἰαδά , Iadá = יעדּה , ya‛dāh , a name found in Septuagint of 1 Chronicles 8:36 , where Massoretic Text has יהועדּה , yehō‛addāh , Jehoaddah. Some Hebrew manuscripts have ya‛dāh in 1 Chronicles 9:42 , and it should probably be accepted as the correct reading there, for ya‛dāh = Jehoaddah yehō‛addāh , linguistically; compare Jonathan and Jehonathan, etc.
