Abie´zer (Father of help, Joshua 17:2), a son of Gilead, the grandson of Manasseh (Numbers 26:30), and founder of the family to which Gideon belonged, and which bore his name as a patronymic—Abiezrites (Judges 6:34; Judges 8:2).
