Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(Ἀκκώς, prob. for Heb. Koz, i.e. Accoz, הִקּוֹוֹ; Vulg. Jacob), the father of John, and grandfather of the Eupolemus who was one of the ambassadors of Judas Maccabaeus to Rome (1 Maccabees 8:17).
