Acembes
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
of Carystus, in Euboea, is named by Hippolytus (Hoer. 4:2; 5, 13; 10:10), with Euphrates the "Peratic," as a chief of the Ophite sect called Peratae. Probably the true form of the name may be Acelmes.
