Adams, Jasper, D.D.

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Protestant Episcopal clergyman, was born in Massachusetts. He graduated from Brown University in 1815; spent two years in Andover Theological Seminary; was tutor in Brown University in 1818 and 1819; was ordained deacon September 2, 1819, and presbyter August 4, 1820. He was, professor of mathematics in Brown University from 1819 to 1824; president of Charleston College, S.C., from 1824 to 1826; of Geneva College, N.Y., from 1826 to 1828; of Charleston College again from 1828 to 1836; chaplain and professor of ethics at U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., from 1838 to 1840, and died at Pendleton, S.C., October 25, 1841.
