archbishop of Ravenna, was born in A.D. 486 of noble family, and was possessed of considerable wealth. On the death of his wife, he entered holy orders, and became praefectus of the Church of St. Agatha. He was consecrated bishop in 556, and held his bishopric until his death, in 569.
