The angry husband cursed the god, and in consequence thereof a singular punishment was inflicted upon the latter. On his body a thousand Phalli grew. His begging and pleading caused the priest to change the punishment. The Phalli fell off, and in place of them Indra received one thousand eyes, whence his surname Sahasraksha.
