Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a French writer of considerable note, was born at Grenoble in 1653, of Protestant parents, whose religion he abjured. He was admitted M.D. at Aix; and, having failed in his profession, went to Paris.
