a Protestant Episcopal clergyman of the diocese of New York, entered the ministry in 1859, and in the following year became rector of St. Philip's Church, New York city; in 1862 he was rector of St. Thomas's Church (African), Philadelphia, in which rectorship he remained until 1872, when he returned to his former charge, St. Philip's.
