Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Arab. faithful), a name given by the Mohammedans to the angel Gabriel, as faithfully doing God's will. They hold that he was employed by God to carry the Koran down from heaven, verse by verse, to Mohammed.
