Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(or CRUX ANSATA), the handled Taucross, was the emblem of life which was always held in the hands of the Egyptian deities. The nature of the object and the reason of its symbolism are unknown. (See ANKH).
