a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born at Sturbridge, Mass., in 1772, of pious parents, who early taught him the fear of the Lord. He experienced religion at the age of sixteen; soon after wandered away into folly and sin; in 1792 was reconverted, and in 1798 entered the travelling connection of the New England Conference. Six years later he located and removed to Homer, N. Y., and four years afterwards resumed the itinerant labors. For five years he continued to preach, then ill-health obliged him to again locate, which relation he held until his decease, Dec. 19, 1821.
