was born at St. Ninian's, Scotland, 1776, and educated in the Scotch Church at the expense of Mr. Robert Haldane. After some years' preaching he came to America, and became a Baptist about 1806. In 1823 he avowed himself a Universalist, and labored, both as preacher and writer, in behalf of Universalism until his death at Charlestown, Mass., Jan. 3, 1852.
