Ballard, Josiah

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Congregational minister, was born in Petersborough, N. H., April 14, 1806. He was fitted for college at Monson Academy, taught the classics in Westfield Academy for a vear and a half, and studied theology privately. In 1836 he was ordained in Chesterfield, N. H., and settled over a Congregational Church in Nelson, N. H. In 1841 he removed to Sudbury, Mass., where he remained as pastor eleven years. In 1852 he was installed over a Church in New Ipswich, N. H., and in 1855 he became a stated supply of the Church at Plympton, Mass. He was finally installed over the Church in Carlisle, Mass., Sept. 15, 1859, at which place he died, Dec. 12, 1863.
